SKILLMAN, N.J. – The Flagler College men's tennis team moved up two spots to No. 42 in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association's Division II National Rankings, released Wednesday night.
The Saints (5-13 overall, 2-4 Peach Belt) were ranked No. 44 in the last ranking (Feb. 26). Flagler has lost its last two matches, but has recorded wins over No. 13 USC Aiken, No. 37 Ferris State and No. 43 Florida Tech.
moved up in the singles rankings. Martinez is now ranked No. 24, up from No. 42 in the last ranking period. He is ranked No. 5 in the Southeast Region.
There are 10 Peach Belt Conference teams in the latest rankings, including Flagler. Armstrong Atlantic State University fell to No. 5 while Lander University remained constant at No. 7. Columbus State University and the University of South Carolina Aiken follow each other at Nos. 14 and 15, respectively. Georgia College fell to No. 21 and Georgia Regents University Augusta also dropped to No. 23. Francis Marion University moved up three spots to No. 29. The University of North Georgia went from being unranked to No. 35. Young Harris College moved into the rankings at No. 46.
Flagler has only four regular season matches left in the season and they are all against conference opponents. The Saints take on No. 23 GRU Augusta on April 3 at 1:30 p.m. at Savannah, Ga.
